Al Caliph boosted their chances of winning the league with a victory against Boost FC as they continued their fine unbeaten streak. The first half was all Al Caliph as the team launched attacks after attacks to break down the stubborn Boost FC’s defense. Al Caliph resorted to playing hopeful long balls as they tried to use their height and speed to their advantage. However, this strategy broke the flow of the game as possession was continually lost in the last third of the field. Poor finishing and the lack of a good final ball ensured Al Caliph faced a terrible time in the last attacking third. It was to no one’s surprise when Boost FC scored against the run of play eventually. They were awarded a corner and poor marking resulted in their player getting a free header in the box. Sufyan managed to hook the ball off the line but another of their player was on hand to pounce on the rebound. Boost FC were boosted by that goal and they celebrated as if they had won the game. Boost FC scored with their only attack of the game. The first half saw Al Caliph down by a goal.
The second half started with a bang as Coach Ali brought in fresh legs. The reply was immediate as the opponents found Al Caliph’s midfielders and strikers too hot to hot to handle and gave away free kicks in the danger zones outside the box. Khairul Anwar was the architect of both the equalizer and the winner as his first free kick was connected expertly by Karthivan and his second free kick ricocheted against a defender into his own net. Al Caliph were in control subsequently as their play became more confident. Confidence slowly turned into complacence as Al Caliph wasted chances and possession in the later stages of the game. The game eventually ended with the score line unchanged, giving Al Caliph the victory on a hot Sunday morning.
