Al-Caliph was attacking the opponent early in the first half, looking for an early goal. We were attacking from all angles, corners, long shots and through passes. Khai made a superb shot from a short corner towards the top corner of the goalpost only to be denied by an equally strong save by the goalkeeper. We continued to attack while keeping it tight at the back with our opponents adopting route one football. Zj and Cina did well in the middle of defence, cutting out long passes from the opponents. Our midfield remained composed, supporting the attacks. Still, our first goal didn’t arrive. Instead, the first goal went to the opponent which was converted through a free kick, conceded outside the penalty box. It was a beautifully taken free kick which even Roberto Carlos would appreciate. There is nothing that our goalkeeper could do to prevent it. From then on, our play was disrupted. Passes went astray and first ball was not taken diligently.

After the half time team talk, we started similarly as how we started in the first half of the match. It was clear that we were the better team in both halves. It was a matter of time that the goal would come. And it finally did. It started from the midfield where a loose ball was picked by Zamri. Seeing a run from Kathi on the right flank, he made the pass which Kathi used to make a superb cross into the penalty box. This was met by Khai, who shot the equalizing goal. Moving forward, we played hard for the winning goal.

Our chance came when Khai picked up a pass from midfield and with his individual brilliance, dribbled past a few defenders into the penalty area. However, he was tripped by one of the defenders and we are awarded a free kick just outside the penalty box. Khai made a powerful low drive shot from the freekick to give us the second goal.

We did however miss the chance for the third goal when Aliff brilliantly evaded a defender on the left flank to make a cross but was unfortunately not received. Nonetheless the game ended on a high note. “Vipers” is considered to be one of the top teams in the league and from this game, we have shown that our team is prepared to bring home the title.
