Al Caliph started the game well, imposing themselves in the game as the opponents struggled to break through. The team passed the ball well and from a corner early in the game, Shy had a header which cannoned off the crossover which was subsequently cleared. Al Caliph has plenty of possession and passed the ball well. Wrong decisions and failure to send the final ball to the attackers saw Al Caliph waste plenty of opportunities. With one of their few attacking forays, Amigos managed to take a shock lead through a penalty as their winger was upended by Zul in the penalty box. Prior to half time, Alif had a glorious chance to level the score as he magnificently turned his defender, but with only the goalkeeper to beat, his shot went inches wide.
The second half started with almost a different set of players. Al Caliph had plenty of strength this time on the bench and many were keen to impress. Again, the team bossed the opponents and again, poor decision making in the last third resulted in the failure to equalize. With the clock running down, Zijian’s pass found Karthi who instinctively took his shot first time. That was the equalizer and it brought cheers from the team. It was just a matter of time before the team found the winner. And within a few minutes, Al Caliph got the second goal through Zijian’s quick thinking assisted by Tyrus. It was euphoria as Al Caliph found the winning goal. Minutes later, the referee blew the whistle for full time. Let’s hope the team build on this win and go on a good run of games.
