Al Caliph FC turned on the style by crushing Bangkit FC 9-1 in what was their second meeting of the season. This victory sent out a fierce message to all title pretenders that Al Caliph FC meant business and would not rest on their laurels even after finishing the first half of the season unbeaten. This game was to be the finest performance of the season yet.
The team started strongly as Al Caliph FC was somehow boosted by the solitary camera or perhaps, the camerawoman, recording their every move. They initiated wave after wave of attacks and it was just a matter of time before the deadlock was broken. It eventually came as Jaafar, aka Jeffinho or Black Mamba, tapped in after Bangkit FC failed to track his run from an Al Caliph corner. The goal somehow boosted the team morale even further as an avalanche of goals followed. Omar’s free kick was too hard to handle, Shahril finished off a brilliant move and Khai, as usual, got his customary goal. The half ended 4-0 to Al Caliph FC.
Not to be undone, the second-half team went even better by banging in another 5 goals. Khai managed to complete his hat-trick, his 3rd (correct me if I’m wrong) of the season, Zamri scored an absolute cracker, Mr Own goal got into the act from a Shah corner, and even Abang Ali got his name on the scoresheet with an emphatic finish which would make Roman Pavlyuchenko look like an amateur. Unfortunately, Al Caliph FC failed to keep a clean sheet as Bangkit FC’s striker managed to weave his way into the box and sidefoot a shot into goal. The game ended 9-1.
Scoreline aside, this game saw Al Caliph FC showcasing a masterclass performance in both attack and defence. Khai was always a handful to the opponents, working hard to create chances for himself and the team. Zamri and Omar bossed the midfield comfortably and the defence, marshaled by Zijian and Zul, proved to be almost impenetrable. Overall, it was an excellence team performance.
