In the 2nd half of the season, Al Caliph look like they were back to old ways, winning. After a dramatic comeback a week before against Maireles Junior, they were raring for another fine display. In the first 10 minutes of the first half, Al Caliph look like they own it as passes were flowing from left to right. We were creating opportunities from all the sides. We nearly got a goal from the young Omar who tapped it far into the right post. We were expecting a goal from the veteran but it was not time yet for him to score.
Midway through the game it was getting pretty frustrating as usually by this time, either teams would have scored. But it was not meant to be. Did i mention that the pitch was small? Oh ya, it was small alright. It was a good size to built a bungalow house with a nice garden, a swimming pool in it plus maybe a garage and a basketball court. But it was small for an 11 a side soccer but nonetheless, orang tua cakap, Jangan salahkan padang. Getting on with the game, neither teams was looking like they were going to score and it was a pretty repressive football as neither teams had 5 clean passes before the ball was snapped by the opponent. BLAME THE PITCH. Towards the last ten minutes, the opponent team was raring froward and created a few chances which they blast over the post. Their midfield dominated and played the ball through our defence but it was not meant to be for them to score any. The referee blew his whistle for the second half.
Second Half
In the second half, our gaffer made a number of substitutions. Uncle Dino was cheering the team on and said he wanted 3 goals. 3 goals? Hmmm nobody said much and few must have thought, "Wah, 3 goals in 2nd half, giler babi hutan siol!" And so off we start in the second half, this time Al Caliph looked a different team as the fresh legs were more attack savvy. True enough, we were dominating and creating chances. Right about 10 mins into the game, Al Caliph smell a goal at the goalmouth as Shahril who was proving to be Man of the Moment for heading 2 goals in the last match got his head connected to the ball in one of the set pieces. Al Caliph was a goal up and full of confidence.It was not before long that another smell of a goal was coming our way. Omar took a corner on the right side and drove it to the far post with his left leg and the ball was curling its way out when Bull guided it back in with a header which our Man of the Moment Shahril was first to react and coolly headed it in. Shahril was proving to be a fox in the box brand of striker as he somehow manage to be at the right place, at the right time. 2-0 it was and Al Caliph looked like they were cruising for another victory.
Shortly after, our Man of the Moment, got a pass form the midfield and solo-ed into the penalty box, he was brought down by the defender and no points for guessing it correctly, PENALTY! It was clear that our Man of the Moment had to take the penalty to complete his hat trick. And with a composure of a serial killer, he slotted it to the left of the goal post. Al Caliph was surely getting the victory that they deserved as the opponents had little chance of a comeback with a sturdy defence towering at the back. Sure enough, Al Caliph sealed the match with a win and it was worth its weight in gold.
