Al Caliph took on Glouester Rangers in what proved to be a feisty affair. After a pumped up tight game against rendezvous ending in a draw, Al Caliph knew that nothing less than a win would do, and furthermore this provided a chance for us to improve our goal difference, which might come in useful come the end of the season.
Once again, Al Caliph defense was rock solid with Kennard and Feroz combining in the centre back positions to great effect, canceling out wave after wave of potential danger. The midfield department put in yet another outstanding performance, combining graft with finesse. In the striking area of the pitch, constant clever movement and telepathic understanding wrecked havoc in the final third.
The first goal came courtesy of a delightful ball over the top of the defense to the right, Gabriel beating the offside trap to square the ball for Shy to score. The second came in quick succession, with interplay on the right resulting in Khai putting Syah in on goal, with a precise finish high into the net. Khai then played immaculate balls to Aizad and Shy for Al Caliph's 3rd and 4th goals respectively.
After the break, Kathir then played a powerful cross to Shahril who slotted home, followed up by Zamri assisted by Zhaf to make it 6-0. Alas, it could not always go our way as a mixup in defense allowed Gloucester to bring some sense of dignity into the score line to end the game at 6-1.
What was an entertaining and enthralling match was partly marred by the temperaments of certain of the players. However, it was noted and commended by the referee that the Al Caliph players did very well to control our tempers and prevent the game from getting out of hand. Next up, a tricky tie against Kallang at Anderson Secondary school on the 27th October.
