We notch our 3rd win of the season against a formidable foe, Blackjack. The score of 1-0 bears testament to a hard fought game with our goal coming of a freekick, our second successful freekick in our history.
We were very sluggish in the first half. Most looked half dead. Passes were astray and lacklustre. Defence, especially center backs, was horrible. We were saved a number of times by Man of the Match Sahfahri. His timing, spreading big and putting his body behind the ball was excellent. Such performance only serve to motivate the team.
Second half started spritely. We had a number of chances that went slightly wide or was saved by their keeper. We fizzled a bit as fitness was telling. As the game wore on, our passes were back to being astray and uncontrolled.
Sawifi got better as the game went on. He stuck his feet into the ball. However his decision making is very very poor. It was the first game he was with us and it shows how much catching up he has to do with our play. Fundamentally, pass the ball, do not run with it!
Faizal performed well today.
Final Analysis We severely lack match fitness. Be reminded that this is a smaller field yet we were panting very hard. I dont dare to imagine what might had happened on a bigger field.
Decision making has to be sharper made in split second. On today's game, this has to do with passing to the right player when were were on the attack. It was the right move to bring the ball back to the center after going deep into the wings against deep sitting opponents. There is where we should take more shots. Sometimes we tend to be elaborate. Keep it simple and make it classic.
We have to make 100% of all attacks count. All moves have to end with shots either on or off target. Otherwise, we will be short at the back.
Echoing Khai's input, when I put you in, you have to give 200% to the team's cause. Chin up and slog. I rarely say this but your captain gives his all during games. Rafie is another. And giving your all means to be going for the ball and closing down the opponent. NOT waking up in the morning to be at the game and run aimlessly on the field.
Echoing Fahmie's words, we should be happy that we got a win today though it was not pretty given that the opponent was BlackJack. I know for sure we were not as happy as previous games simply because we know in ourselves that we could do much better. Its time to buck up and make amends. You have to be responsible. Sleep and eat well. Exercise whenever and wherever.
