Al-Caliph laboured to put one over Westminster. The 4-1 score win didnt depict the true picture of what supposedly to be a walkover. Al-Caliph had to toil and slog with the lowest turnout so far in the tournament, 17.

Positives

  • Al-Caliph won with a makeshift team
  • Scored through midfield and defence
  • Aizad had a hat trick
  • Sawifi improved his decision making and begin to push the ball early. Did enough as he was played out of position
  • Corners were better. We met the ball first time a number of times
  • Tried to play quick passes
Negatives
  • Failure to impress Players unable to step up when given the opportunity to play. Some were able to play longer than usual. Unfortunately they didnt seize the day to impress to stake a claim for future games.
  • Ball watching Nothing was more glaring when we conceded the goal. Zhen Zhia made this mistake and failed to react quickly enough to recover from the mistake that lead to the goal.  Shy has to cut this out and get into the opponent more to pressure them. This goes to the rest as well.
  • Over elaborate Jeff and Aizad held the ball too long at times when a one two will suffice. Sawifi took too long to make a decision to pass. Nic tried too many a times to stop the ball and look for a mate to pass. He may have stopped the ball dead but his posture doesnt allow him to have further control of the ball.
  • Over passing Again a simple on the ground pass will do but many were prone to over passing. Aizad tried a spectacular to pass back to the keeper that resulted in a goal when a simple pass to the lines to Rafie would do enough. Believe me when I said I held my tongue at that point as the opponent was next to me. We need to control our passing. Very poor distribution of strength.
  • Lack of concentration Lack of concentration led to our own goal. VERY UNNECESSARY! A halt to our zero conceding record.
Summary What was supposed to be a fun relaxing Sunday morning turn out to be anxious and edgy culminated with an explosive team talk. I wasnt wrong when I said we lack depth centrally. We are lacking players that are composed and that can drive the team forward. The team came to live when Fahmie came in buzzing around and bossing the game forward.

Man of the Match I awarded the Man of the Match to Aizad. Although he was full of running and getting into the opponents, his vision and passing left a lot to be desired. Hence, I had to look for something outstanding and the clincher was his desire to support a team mate whereever. This was evident when he scored the first goal when the goal was not suppose to be his in the first place.

Dinesh had run through and was one on one with the keeper. Everyone stood rooted to see Dinesh finish it off but Aizad didnt. He followed Dinesh. When the keeper managed to punch the ball away from his goal, Aizad was on hand to tuck it away.
