These is an open letter from the organiser of D2D League. Do read and understand. Will need you guys opinion this Sunday.
Dear Team Managers,
We hope that all teams are enjoying the league so far. We are currently at the mid point of season 6 and we hope to gather as much feedback as possible so as to improve on season 7.
The Sunday AM league will commence its season 7 in December and we are currently going through some changes for the new season.
As spoken to most of you yesterday, the demand for 9am league is growing at a rapid pace and the potential to make the league bigger and better has been D2D's ambition for quite a while.
However, D2D's challenges are pitch availability for the 9am fields. Currently all games are being played at 9am fields and most of them are normal grass fields. Recently we have been getting a few artificial but the numbers are still not sufficient for the league.
After gathering much feedback, we have decided that for season 7 it will be a 9am and 11am league.
Firstly, D2D would like to grow the league to at least 4 or 5 division in season 7, and introduce more teams to the league. We have been a 3 division league for many years now, and we feel that it is time the current teams be given the changes to play more teams regularly.
Second, D2D want teams to play on better pitches, artificial fields. As you know slots for 9am and 5pm are public ballots. We are competing with the public to attain this pitches. However 11am and the 3pm slots are easier to attain as we are supported by SSC with regards to fields of these time slots.
Thirdly, D2D knows that Oct-Dec and Feb- April are rainy seasons. We would want to decrease as much rain off as possible for all teams and not disturb their weekly games.
We will ensure all teams that the number of games played for both 9am and 11am will be as equal as possible. Games played on 11am fields will be artificial.
D2D has pride ourselves as the fastest growing league in Singapore. We started with just 8 teams in 2007 and have grown steadily to more than 150 teams today.
There are many other leagues in Singapore but our rapid growth is an indication that we have the trust and loyalty of the teams that are have taken part in the league.
We would really like your support and commitment for season 7. We will ensure that all the current teams will enjoy all the benefits and perks that D2D has to offer for season 7.
